A team photo mosaic made from the whole season

A season or a project produces hundreds of photos on dozens of phones. Bring them into one picture the whole squad or office can find themselves in.

Use the crest, not the squad photo

The mosaic is 40 tiles wide. A squad photo with eighteen people in two rows gives each face a tile or two, so nobody is recognisable in the big picture. A crest, a logo, a shirt number or a trophy has bold shapes and flat colour, and it stays clear.

Use a version of the logo with a solid background and thick shapes. Thin lettering under the badge will not survive, so crop it off before you upload.

Getting photos from everyone, not just the keen ones

Every group has two or three people who photograph everything. Ask them first, by name, then send the link to the whole group so the mosaic is not all from one camera.

For a club: "Add your best photo from this season to the club picture. Match days, training, the bus, the sideline. Put your family name so people can find you." For a workplace, swap in the project and the people: launch day, the whiteboard, the late pizza.

Season-long or just the last few weeks

A free page takes photos for 30 days. That suits a page opened in the last weeks of the season, ready for the awards evening.

To run it across a whole season, unlock the page for $19, which gives 90 days of uploads from the day you pay, and add another 90 days for $5 whenever you need them.

At the awards evening or the wrap-up

Put the page on the clubhouse projector or the office screen and let people come up and find themselves. An unlocked page has a slideshow that runs unattended in the background during the speeches.

The download is large enough to print for a clubhouse or office wall. The file is yours to print wherever the club normally orders its banners.

The usual mistake

With a youth side, sharing the link before the parents have agreed. Raise it with parents first, switch on "I approve each one first", and send the link only to the families. Anyone who has the link can open the page, so keep it out of public posts.

Questions

Will a team logo work as the picture?

Usually better than a photo. Bold shapes and two or three flat colours read clearly at 40 by 50 tiles. Fine text and thin outlines do not, so use the simplest version of the logo you have.

Can parents add photos for their children?

Yes, and for a youth side they should be the ones doing it. The person adding a photo confirms that they have the right to share it and that the people in it are happy to be shown.

Can a company use this for a project or an offsite?

Yes. Nothing about it is specific to sport. Check your employer's rules on sharing workplace photos, and keep screens, documents and customers out of frame.

Can several people manage the page?

There is one owner link and no accounts. Anyone you give that link to can approve and remove photos, edit the words and delete the page, so share it only with people you would trust with all of that.
